چکیده

The mean flow and turbulence statistics of the through a simplified urban environment, which is an active research area in order to improve knowledge turbulent cities, investigated. This useful for civil engineering, pedestrian comfort health concerns caused by pollutant spreading. In this work, we provide analysis obtained from well-resolved large-eddy simulations (LES). A detailed database reveals impact geometry array on characteristics provides good description features within environment. most prominent complex include coherent vortical structures such as so-called arch vortex, horseshoe vortex roof vortex. These have been identified statistics. influence environment (and particularly street width building height) overall behavior has also studied. Finally, LES results were compared with available experimental discuss differences similarities between respective configurations.

Spectral Element Based Dynamic Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Channel Flow

In this study the dynamic Smagorinsky model (DSM) has been incorporated into a spectral element method and applied in a large eddy simulation (LES) of a turbulent channel flow. The dynamic procedure estimates the parameter of the Smagorinsky model (SM), thereby allowing for an adaption of the mixing length to the local turbulent state during the simulation. As expected, strong fluctuations of t...

Direct numerical simulation of turbulent non-Newtonian flow using a spectral element method

A spectral element—Fourier method (SEM) for Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of the turbulent flow of non-Newtonian fluids is described and the particular requirements for non-Newtonian rheology are discussed. The method is implemented in parallel using the MPI message passing kernel, and execution times scale somewhat less than linearly with the number of CPUs, however this is more than compe...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

Large-eddy simulation of turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubes submerged in an emulated atmospheric boundary-layer

Turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubic obstacles has been numerically investigated using large-eddy simulation. The simulations have been performed using high-performance computations with local cluster systems. The array of cubes are fully submerged in a simulated deep rough-wall atmospheric boundary-layer with high turbulence intensity characteristics of environmental turbulent fl...
